District Visioning
WHY District Visioning?
An effective Rotary District empowers Clubs and Rotarians to achieve their goals. District Visioning generates ideas and sets a clear direction for how the District can support Clubs. Benefits of implementing a District Vision include:
1. Establishing a multi-year District plan aligned with the Rotary Action Plan.
2. Encouraging leadership development for current and future leaders.
3. Enhancing District health through increased engagement.
4. Educating Clubs about Rotary programs.
WHAT is District Visioning?
District Visioning is a program from the International Vision Facilitation Council (IVFC) that helps Rotary Districts plan for the future. The District Visioning event lasts about seven hours, either as a single onsite session, a single virtual session or two 3.5 hours virtual sessions within a week. Experienced IVFC District Visioning Facilitators guide participants to collaborate and build consensus, resulting in a multi-year District Master Plan and actionable planning.
Key aspects include:
- Attendance for the whole District Visioning event from the District Governor Leadership line, key District chairs, several current and past Club presidents, and engaged Rotarians totaling up to 30 participants is essential.
- A designated “District Visioning Coordinator” will work with the IVFC District Visioning Team Leader to coordinate preparations.
- A District Vision Questionnaire will be sent out to all members in the District to gather input on the District's role and support for Clubs.
- An experienced IVFC District Visioning Facilitation Team (2-4 members) will dedicate 30-60 volunteer hours to work with your District to conduct the event and consult afterwards.
During the session, IVFC District Visioning Facilitators will guide participants through a 10-Step process, including presentations, exercises, data collection, and action plan development. This culminates in a 3-year District Master Plan that guides future initiatives towards success.
HOW to arrange District Visioning?
Step 1 – District Leadership contacts their Zone Coordinator of the International Vision Facilitation Council (IVFC), or use the CONTACT US tab on IVFC website www.rivisionfacilitation.org to request an IVFC representative to talk about District Visioning.
Step 2 – An IVFC representative will schedule a District Visioning information and enrollment meeting to provide more information on District Visioning and outline next steps.
Step 3 – Upon receipt of the $500 District Visioning facilitation fee, an IVFC District Visioning Team Leader will work with District Visioning Coordinator to arrange and conduct the District Visioning event. Note: the District will need to cover any IVFC District Visioning Facilitator travel, meals, and lodging costs if the District Visioning event is onsite.
Step 4 – The IVFC District Visioning Team Leader will consult with the District Governor leadership after the event to help complete a District Master Plan and initiate District Action Plans.
